About the Event

The Secret Connection Between Malocclusion & Medical History: A Dentist’s Guide to Pediatric Airway & Sleep Medicine

Program Description

  • Pediatic OSA is more common than cancer; causes ADHD and depression; left unchecked leads to hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  It can break fillings, and contribute to periodontal disease.   Yet in dentistry there’s more uncertainty than clarity – more fiction than fact, more sizzle than steak.  Many loud voices share strongly held opinions, but fail to equip dentists with useful guidelines for clinical practice, offer minimal guidance how to work with a multi-disciplinary team, and provide zero recommendations for successful case selection.
  • The purpose of this introductory lecture is to offer essential instructions about sleep apnea and airway for general practice dentists.  By revealing the physiology connection between malocclusion and medical history, attendees will learn how to implement a phenotype-based approach to guiding multi-disciplinary care.
